The Minister of Culture and Governor of South Sinai inaugurate the activities of the Ninth Edition of the “Sharm El-Sheikh International Youth Theater Festival.
Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hano, Minister of Culture, and Dr. Khaled Mubarak, Governor of South Sinai, inaugurated the activities of the ninth edition of the “Sharm El-Sheikh International Youth Theater Festival," which carries the name of the late artist Jalal El-Sharkawy. The ceremonies, held at the Sharm El-Sheikh Culture Palace, were attended by a group of artists from Egypt and various countries. Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, Minister of Culture, said in his speech that we are happy to attend this edition of the Sharm El-Sheikh International Youth Theater Festival. This pioneering artistic event on the precious land of Sinai embodies ambition, creativity, and hope for a bright theatrical cultural scene. He added that the festival is developing to become a global platform and a forum for talents and creativity from multiple cultures, as it provides free spaces for ambitious theater and innovative ideas that aim to have a positive impact on youth. We allow youth to express their talents, develop their ideas, and advance their artistic capabilities. Therefore, the Ministry of Culture is interested in supporting and sponsoring this festival, as it is an integral part of our vision to promote culture and art as a pillar of community development.
As for his part, Dr Khaled Mubarak, Governor of South Sinai, expressed his happiness with hosting this major artistic event in Sharm El-Sheikh, noting that the Sharm El-Sheikh International Youth Theater Festival is a cultural bridge between creative youth from different countries of the world, and it reflects Egypt’s civilized image as a global icon for arts and culture. The governor stressed the vital role played by cultural events in promoting tourism in South Sinai Governorate, noting that the city is not only a tourist destination but also a center for art and creativity, explaining that the governorate continues to provide the necessary support to enhance the festival at the international level. The Sharm El-Sheikh International Youth Theater Festival will hold its ninth edition, headed by artist and director Mazen Al-Gharbawi, from 15 to 20 November. The edition bears the name of the late great director Galal Al-Sharqawi. The festival is managed by Dr. Engy Al-Bastawi. The head of the festival's supreme committee is producer Hisham Soliman, and the festival is honorarily headed by the lady of Arab theater, Samiha Ayoub.
