The Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, received Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hano, Minister of Culture, at the headquarters of Al-Azhar Sheikhdom.
The meeting came within the framework of the two sides' keenness to strengthen the bonds of cooperation and to discuss ways to promote the joint cultural work to build the Egyptian personality and to achieve the aspirations aimed at achieving cultural justice.
The Grand Imam stressed the need to confront the strange artistic and cultural patterns that have violated our societies, aiming to exclude culture and marginalize its role in building the human being and shaping his awareness. This violation deprived Arab youth of the feeling of pride towards their religious and moral identity. This violation aims at making them vulnerable and easy prey to polarization, especially in light of the spread of ignorance, lack of knowledge, and the absence of good education and fruitful media content.
During his meeting with Dr Ahmed Fouad Hano, Minister of Culture, at Al-Azhar Sheikhdom on Tuesday, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar called for the need to develop a national strategy to confront the cultural and civilizational decline that our societies are suffering from and has negatively affected the youth. In addition, he called on people to come up with cultural, artistic and media products that deal with solutions to societal crises and that present applicable visions, noting that Al-Azhar has reprinted Al-Azhar Magazine since its inception in 106 volumes, to inject new cultural blood and revive its values , most notably dialogue, diversity, acceptance of others and mutual respect.
For his part, the Minister of Culture expressed his appreciation for meeting a great scientific and religious figure such as the Sheikh of Al-Azhar. He stressed that the ministry's strategy would witness an intensification of cooperation with all parties and institutions to promote the Egyptian person, as it works to enhance awareness and education, such as the electronic book, to confront and cope with the problems and the high cost of paper and printing.
The Minister of Culture assured that the ministry has great ambition to build bridges of cooperation with the Al-Azhar Foundation, educate youth, benefit from the Foundation's cultural and artistic doses, and rebuild the person, as culture is the first wall of protection against. extremism.
