Minister of Culture Participates in the Celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Institute of Coptic Studies and the 12th Anniversary of the Accession of Pope Tawadros II
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of Coptic Studies and the 12th anniversary of the accession of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II to the throne of Saint Mark the Apostle, and for celebrating the graduation of several batches of the Institute, Ahmed Fouad Heno, Minister of Culture, and Dr. Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, attended the celebration organized in the administrative building at the papal headquarters in Abbasiya.
His Holiness Pope Tawadros II confirmed that the Institute of Coptic Studies, since its establishment, has played a major role in documenting the history of Coptic civilization and spreading its ancient heritage. He expressed his appreciation for the continuous support provided by the state to all the cultural institutions, noting that the Institute, despite the passage of 70 years since its establishment, remains a model of creativity and giving, presenting cultural and human values which are a source of pride for all Egyptians, not just for the Church.
His Holiness the Pope also praised the issuance of commemorative coins for the institute, which were approved by the Prime Minister, stressing that they reflect the state's appreciation for the role of the institute and contribute to consolidating its historical and cultural value for all Egyptians.
Dr. Ahmed Fouad Heno, Minister of Culture, stressed the importance of cooperation with the Egyptian Church to enhance cultural and artistic activities in various governorates, praising the pioneering role of the Institute of Coptic Studies and its fruitful efforts in presenting high cultural and human values.
The celebration included the screening of a short documentary film documenting the most prominent phases in the institute's journey since its establishment until today, followed by the inauguration of a historical and artistic exhibition featuring Coptic art products produced by the institute's students and students of Zagazig University, in addition to presenting a group of commemorative coins and medals issued by the Ministry of Finance, which document the landmarks of the Holy Family's path in Egypt.
